Home Automation

To fully experience the pleasantness of elegant outdoor spaces, comfort is an essential element in every project, which must be able to recreate not only a cosy and aesthetically pleasing environment, but also one that can be enjoyed in a simple and personalised way.
This is why, even in the open-air sphere, home automation applied to awnings represents a precious ally in terms of comfort and safety, allowing you to benefit from motorised awnings, easily managed by remote control, app or voice command. In fact, awningand pergola automation offers important benefits such as remote control of the cover and also the automatic activation of specific movements in the event of sun or bad weather.
An advanced technology that Pratic has chosen to develop for each of its outdoor solutions, creating a line of covers with a refined design and a highly technological heart.

The future of awnings: domotic blinds

Ideal for creating large areas of shade and protecting windows and verandas from light, Pratic’s domotic awnings offer the incredible advantage of fully automated management.
High-performance weather sensors regulate the awning’s opening in the event of high temperatures or when a light threshold that can be set at will is exceeded. In the event of strong wind, rain or hail, on the other hand, the domotic awning is immediately secured by retracting on the roll-up tube or inside the elegant boxes that characterise the T-Project line of advanced blinds.

For these full-optional models, awning automation also includes ambient lighting with LED strips that can be installed at the base of the aluminium cassette, for comfortable and suggestive use even in the evening. In this case, management is via remote control or app, allowing not only the lights to be switched on and off, but also their intensity to be adjusted.
A fundamental aspect of Pratic’s advanced design is then the possibility of easily integrating the automations of each awning with the home automation systems of homes, hotels, bars and restaurants, to set up highly customised scenarios that can be programmed according to one’s own needs.

Automation for bioclimatic pergolas

The same compatibility with the main home automation systems is also offered by Pratic’s bioclimatic pergolas, whose automations guarantee important benefits in terms of efficiency, safety and roof resistance.
What distinguishes the bioclimatic models is in particular the movement of the characteristic aluminium sunshade blades, retractable or adjustable up to 140 degrees depending on the desired model. These can in fact interact – autonomously or guided by precise user commands – with the natural elements, to achieve ideal climatic comfort at all times and to protect the environment below from bad weather.

When not governed by remote control, app or voice command, the automations of Pratic bioclimatic pergolas can be activated by signals sent by the integrated weather sensors, which react to weather events, such as light, rain, ice and snow, autonomously activating the movement of the blades, the opening or closing of the blinds and the lighting.
Not only that, Pratic’s Opera and Vision awnings with adjustable blades also feature a practical anti-crushing sensor, which detects the presence of obstacles between the blades and automatically blocks their closure. The Brera Series models, on the other hand, with a wrap-around cover, feature a 24-volt motor that provides greater electrical safety and allows the blades to close more gently.

Awning lighting

The potential of Pratic outdoor enclosures extends far beyond their function as sun protection alone, shaping refined environments that can also be enjoyed in the evening.
To recreate the perfect atmosphere for your own home patio or for the outside of bars and restaurants, all it takes is a simple gesture, thanks to the lighting system, created by means of dimmable, low-consumption LED lights with high illuminating power, which can vary in intensity and colour.
Lighting combinations are customisable depending on the chosen cover. For the domotic a wnings in the T-Project range, a set-up with white LED lights is available, which can be positioned on the front profile and on the wall profile, illuminating the space below and adjacent to the awning with a pleasant, soft allure.

In the case of bioclimatic pergolas, on the other hand, RGB LED lighting is discreetly positioned around the perimeter of the canopy and the Set platform, while additional white light is provided by Spot Light (round-shaped) or Quadra Light (square-shaped) spotlights that can be installed on the blades.
Accessories, these, which can be managed in a customised manner, with the possibility of pre-programming – via sensors and apps – the mode or switch-on and switch-off time of each light.
Practical, but above all safe, the lighting of the Pratic automated awnings is finally certified for the protection of the eyesight of those who use them. In fact, the LEDs supplied offer RGB or warm white light options, which protect the eye from damage and fatigue, as well as contributing to the wellbeing of the individual, who finds great benefits for his or her psychophysical health in exposure to colour and light as close to natural light as possible.

Sunlight sensor for awnings

And precisely in order to offer an always pleasant and safe exposure to natural light, Pratic has chosen to integrate practical sunlight sensors into its outdoor solutions, which allow blinds and sunshades to automatically generate the perfect shade.
As the intensity of the light changes, the sensors intervene by opening or closing one or more blinds depending on where the sun’s rays are coming from, creating the ideal scenario for temperature regulation.
Furthermore, sunlight sensors for awnings offer a further advantage in that they are able to detect the lack of light and activate the integrated lighting of awnings and pergolas accordingly. Using the App, it is possible to define time windows within which to activate the opening and closing of the awning, or the switching on and off of the lights, for maximum flexibility of use according to one’s needs.

Wind sensor for awnings

Pratic’s motorised awnings are also designed to guarantee the highest quality performance even in strong breezes, thanks to the Magnetic Lock System and Flex Control patents that allow drop models and models with extendable arms to maintain perfect tension of the fabric, cushioning the movements caused by the wind.
In the event of strong gusts, wind sensors for awnings enable the awning to be retracted to preserve the integrity of the structure against particularly strong vibrations and oscillations.
Similarly, the awninganemometer also acts on the movement of Raso vertical blinds and bioclimatic pergola blades, activating the retraction of the former within the profiles of the structure and ordering the opening of the blades at 45 degrees.
These sophisticated sensors detect wind speed in real time and set a threshold beyond which the awning automatically closes, avoiding exposure to any risks.

Rain sensor for awnings

Avoiding damage and wear and tear is also the goal of rain sensors for automated awnings. These valuable options detect the presence of rainwater and order the immediate closing of the cover. A not inconsiderable convenience to keep the awning safe even when you are not at home or during those days when the weather changes rapidly.
If, on the other hand, the tent is equipped with a waterproof cover, it can be kept open even in light to moderate rainfall to shield the space underneath. However, it should not be forgotten that awnings are designed to perform the main function of protection from the sun. If, on the other hand, a cover that can be used in all weather conditions is desired, bioclimatic pergolas are the most suitable solution.

For these models, rain sensors offer a different benefit: the automation protects the environment created by the structure, thanks to the automatic closing of the blades, which allows rainwater to run off inside the perimeter gutters concealed in the uprights.
Furthermore, to eliminate any residual rain, when the blades are reopened, the inclination maintains a fixed position at 30-45 degrees for a few minutes, which facilitates complete drying.

Temperature sensor for awnings

The combination of rain and low temperatures can easily create ice on the surface of the sunshade blades. Therefore, at temperatures below 2°C, the blades of bioclimatic awnings automatically open at an angle of 10°, preventing the creation of icy layers.
Conversely, when the weather gets warmer, the temperature sensor for awnings and pergolas acts on the movement of the roof to provide better shading and thus more comfort for outdoor spaces or for indoor spaces whose windows are protected by drop awnings or extendable arm awnings.

Snow sensor for awnings

Last but not least, the snow sensor for awnings is an indispensable accessory to protect the roof of bioclimatic pergolas from the weight of the snowpack, which could cause slight deformations.
To avert this risk, in the event of rain combined with temperatures below 3°C, the blades assume a 90° inclination , preventing the snow from settling on the structure.

Smartphone app for awnings

Thanks to the Connexoon and Tahoma systems, the functionality of your pergola or awning can be integrated into any home automation system, allowing convenient remote management via smartphone or tablet.
Simply connect the devices to the home internet network and activate the dedicated app to control each automation and programme or modify customised scenarios by activating several functions simultaneously.
A further solution is offered by Pratic E-Connect, a Wi-Fi interface compatible with Android or IOS operating systems, which can always be used via your favourite device. This allows you to control and activate via internet (from anywhere in the house or remotely) all the automations installed on your Pratic bioclimatic pergolas and awnings, even from multiple users at the same time.

Google Home and Amazon Alexa systems for awnings

In step with the most modern home management systems, the brand new Pratic Connect pergola is compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa systems, which activate any automation at the push of a simple voice command.
The operation is similar to that of the Connexon, Tahoma and Pratic E-Connect systems, with the only difference being that the action is not requested with a touch on the tablet or mobile phone, but with just the sound of one’s voice, which is interpreted by artificial intelligence and translated into automation.
A simple and immediate solution, even more practical because it does not require any mobile device: just a smart speaker to be placed inside the pergola.
